Intro: Winter Break 2011-2012

This year's winter trip was a sort of continuation of last year. Picking up where I left off.
At first, the plan was to visit Indonesia (mostly just Bali), Vietnam, and Laos, however once I got into planning and figuring out costs and whatnot, I made the difficult decision to drop Laos off the list. It's not the most touristy of all the countries, which is good, but it also means transportation is difficult. Not only did I hear stories of it being very unreliable (two separate people had their buses break down in the middle of nowhere), but it takes at least a full day to get anywhere, and I just didn't have that kind of time. I had been really looking forward to it, but I'd like to go when I'm able to see everything I want to see. Some day.
In the mean time, dropping Laos meant more time in Vietnam, which meant I could take cross-country trains-- something I had wanted to do the previous year, but didn't book in time. I was super excited.

So this is the final trip itinerary:

It's nowhere near the Marathon of oh-10, but a fantastic trip nonetheless.
